The U.P. Firefighter’s tournament is fast approaching and organizers are looking for participants for the commercial parade on July 30. The tournament takes place in Florence July 28 -30 and the parade is the culmination of the action-packed weekend which includes bands on Friday and Saturday nights.

“This also is our 100th year as a fire department,” said Florence Fire Chief Joe Witynski. “We want to invite any organization, business or individual that is interested in a float, or any other type of unit in the parade to enter. There will be a prize for the best entry.” The firefighters are judged in a separate category.

In addition, the fire department invites Florence fire department honorary members to join them for the commercial parade.

If you have any questions or are interested in entering a float or participating as an honorary member, contact Dave Bauer at (906) 221-5121 or Joe Witynski (906) 360-3221 by Monday July 24 so they can get a count of units in the parade.
