Titletown Jeepers take Mole Lake veterans for off-road adventure
Richard D Ackley, Jr
Climbing over rocks and over logs then trekking through mud and along narrow trails, Mole Lake veterans were treated the “ride of a lifetime” this past weekend.
A group from Titletown Jeepers, a family-oriented jeep owners club, arrived in Mole Lake on Saturday, September 9 for the Mole Lake veteran’s inaugural ride, organized by John Lewins, president of the annual Mole Lake Jeep Jamboree and Dean VanZile, Mole Lake veterans coordinator.
The Titletown Jeepers have a long-time relationship with the Sokaogon Chippewa community and volunteered their time and their jeeps to take local veterans out into the backwoods, in appreciation for military veterans and their service. The day’s activities got underway with beautiful weather as Lewins, who is also an automotive technician for Brickner’s of Antigo and an experienced and expertly trained trail guide stated, “A big thank you goes out to our Mole Lake vets and our club member volunteers who came together today for this momentous first-year event.”
