Broadband infrastructure going up in Fence
A positive engineering study has cleared the way for new fixed wireless broadband equipment to be installed on the existing Fence tower on Memory Lane.
An idea that began in 2014 and started building momentum in January of this year should be up and running in Fence by the end of this year. Equipment in Long Lake and the Keyes Lake area is slated for completion in the spring.
Spearheaded by Economic Development Director Wendy Gehlhoff with support from County Board member Larry Neuens and UW-Extension, a successful grant proposal was submitted this spring to cover the cost of the $144,500 project. Half of the cost will be covered by donations and in-kind work from businesses, individuals and government agencies.
