12th Annual Ride for Research raises over $20K
The 12th Annual Ride for Research, an annual motorcycle ride in the Wabeno area for dual sport bikes, took place on June 9 and 10 with the goal of raising money to support breast and colon cancer research at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
It is a national AMA event that attracts an estimated 300 riders from Wisconsin and other parts of the country, according to Wisconsin Dual Sport Club Member Mark Charlton
The club started doing this as a way to give back to Wabeno and Forest County. The route begins at the firefighter’s grounds in downtown Wabeno, and riders are given a route map marking a pathway of over 250 miles of on-road and off-road terrain that registrants will follow. Many ride in small groups, and everyone is encouraged to ride at their own pace.
