Officials urge caution as river levels remain high

The major storm that hit northeast Wisconsin last week wreaked havoc throughout Florence County, with crews from Crystal Falls coming to assist Florence Utilities in cleaning up the damage and restoring power to thousands of homes in the Florence County area.

According to Bob Friberg, general manager of Florence Utilities, approximately 85 percent of the system was without power after the second wave of the storm came through on Sunday night. “We had much of the area up and running by midnight Sunday night, but we still had two rural feeders that remained down until 7:30 the next evening. One feeder was out for over 24 hours in the Harding area,” he said.
