The unveiling of the refurbished 1917 Florence Fire truck drew a full house to the Encore on Sunday afternoon. To begin the program, the audience was treated to a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on the history of the truck and the fire department, put together by Margie Yadro.
Town chair Tim Bomberg recognized everyone who was involved in the project, especially Daniel Zoppetti who spent an estimated 500 hours restoring the historic truck. Bomberg also noted the key role that Peter DeMuri played in keeping the truck in running order over the years. He also praised longtime owner of Florence Motor Sales, DeMuri, who passed away suddenly in 2010, for always volunteering to help the fire and rescue squads whenever they had vehicle trouble.
