Participants in the summer mushroom foray examine tables full of mushrooms plucked from the forests near Hiles.
The upcoming weekend, July 21-23, marks the arrival of mushroom enthusiasts to the Town of Hiles, the center of the Wisconsin mushroom world. A record turnout is expected at the annual event hosted the Little Pine Motel and the Town of Hiles. The Wisconsin Mycological Society sponsors the three-day foray with participants coming from throughout the upper Midwest.
Organizers of the event have a busy weekend planned for participants. With some arriving as early as Wednesday, most will arrive on Thursday and attend a traditional Thursday evening dinner and get-together at Main Street Ed’s in Argonne. The actual foray begins on Friday with several local hotspots planned in the Nicolet National Forest.
