A groundbreaking ceremony for a new Fence Rescue Squad hall was held September 27 and Wick Buildings has begun the work to install utilities, septic and holding tank. The building should be finished in the spring. According to Florence Rescue Squad President Mike Theis, it should be in use by April, weather permitting.

Fence rescue calls are currently handled by first responders in their own vehicles and ambulance dispatched from Florence.
