Since its inception in 1968, Lumberjack Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council has developed long-term relationships with numerous agencies, businesses and individuals who promote sustainable forest management.  In 2003, Lumberjack’s Forestry Committee established a “Sustainable Forestry Awards” program to recognize the important contributions made to sustainable forestry and the RC&D program.

Awards are given annually in three categories.

The Friend of Forestry Award is presented to an individual or group in the forest industry for long-term support of forest stewardship. Stuart Boren of Florence was this year’s recipient, nominated by Lumberjack County member Yvonne Van Pembrook.
