The Florence County Deer Advisory Council met Tuesday, March 20 to set the preliminary antlerless quota and discuss season options for the 2018 deer seasons. Following public comment and discussions, the council voted to set the preliminary antlerless quota at a harvest of 1,600. Youth hunters, disabled hunters and active military will have antlerless permits available as in past years, which are expected to result in an additional harvest of approximately 400 antlerless deer. The three-year population objective for Florence County that was set in 2017 is to maintain the herd size through the 2020 hunting season.
