Counselors, faculty and staff were on hand Saturday at Florence High School to offer comfort and consolation to those in need after the tragic death of two of its students on Friday morning.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, two Florence teenagers were killed on their way to work in an early morning car crash on Friday, June 22.

Isabella M. Burrows, of Homestead, and Paige F. Raspor, of Spread Eagle, both 16, were killed when their vehicle, driven by Burrows, apparently failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree.

According to an eyewitness, the vehicle burst into flames almost immediately upon colliding with the tree. Both girls died of extensive internal injuries.

The incident occurred on Highway N in the town of Commonwealth.
