Damaging storms rip through northeast Wisconsin

Severe storms, including four confirmed tornadoes, hit northeast Wisconsin on Friday, destroying homes, cars and national forests. The tornadoes were located in Oneida and Marathon counties.

High winds and downed trees resulted in widespread damages and power outages throughout the Fox Valley and closer to home, including Wabeno, Elcho, Langlade, Mountain, Pelican Lake, Pickerel and Townsend. Damage was extensive, but no deaths were reported due to the storms.

According to a news release on Sunday from WEC Energy Group, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) and We Energies continue to recover from some of the most powerful storms to hit central and eastern Wisconsin in the past 20 years.
