Clean Boats Clean Water kicks off in Florence County

With temperatures reaching the upper 60s and leaves emerging after a long Northern Wisconsin winter, launching our boats and casting our lines sounds pretty good. The Florence County Clean Boats Clean Water (CBCW) staff couldn’t agree more.

AIS Coordinator, Carolyn Weber-Starling, is back at it again this year getting her crew of seven local individuals ready for the boating and fishing season. Their work will consist of boat inspections for aquatic invasive species, recording boating data for the DNR’s Wisconsin’s Surface Water Integrated Monitoring System (SWIMS) database, cleaning off boats with a heated high-pressure boat wash and educating the public about the importance of the “Inspect, Remove, Drain, Never Move,” campaign or as our Michigan neighbors know it, “Clean, Drain, Dry.”
